Is Coaching For You?

FAQ's

What is coaching?

Life Coaching is a synergetic relationship that focuses on helping you, “the client,” maximize your full potential to reach your life goals.

It can help you reconnect by guiding you to explore the life that is already inside you – your dreams, aspirations, fears, beliefs, values, feelings, and emotions – that will help you restore your connection with yourself.

A coach can be a great aid in facilitating self-exploration so that you can identify what’s important to you in building the life you desire.

My role as a coach is cultivating a safe space for thought-provoking questions, creative thinking, and a strong focus on self-exploration, self-awareness, and a more profound sense of self.

An important piece to note is the collaborative nature of this relationship. After all, you are the expert in your own life. A life coach’s role is to help guide you, provide tools, and promote new perspectives for the self-discovery journey.

Is coaching covered by my benefits?

As an NBC-HWC credentialed coach, my services are covered by HSA/FSA insurance accounts for clients in the United States. This means that you can utilize your HSA/FSA funds to access my coaching services. I'm dedicated to providing accessible support for your journey towards personal growth and fulfillment. Additionally, I'm optimistic that Canada will follow suit in the near future, expanding accessibility to coaching services for more individuals.

Benefits of Coaching

  • Help you identify your goals, hold you accountable, and provide encouragement throughout your journey to become the best version of yourself.

  • Boost in self-confidence - A study by the International Coaching Federation (IFC) discovered that 80% of people who hired a life coach reported an improvement in self-confidence.

  • Unlock your full potential. Many of us have latent potential that is hidden by prejudice or closed-mindedness. Life coaches unlock this potential by opening you up to alternate ways of thinking and creating clarity for your direction in life.

  • A different perspective. We are often consumed by our opinions, life experiences, and ways of thinking. Aka - our reality. A life coach can provide a new and often helpful perspective on things.

  • Real-time to help navigate the more complex shifts and being an accountability partner can make all the difference in succeeding.

  • A coach will help you grow by analyzing your current situation.

  • You are building your self-esteem and removing negative self-talk, which may be holding you back.

  • Enhanced self-awareness. Being fully aware of your impact on others and recognizing your flaws, strengths, and unique personality attributes is a challenging adventure. This is the art of self-awareness.

  • Happiness. Working towards your goals and seeing them come to fruition promotes a life of joy.

  • Together, you will identify the beliefs and challenges that slow you down.

Difference between Coaching & Counseling/Therapy

In coaching, we focus on the present and future, whereas in counseling and therapy, there is a strong focus on the past. With most growth, some may look into the past to understand the present, but we won’t stay here and unearth it. Success in coaching is supporting the client in their journey from the present to their goal while shining a light on their strengths, potential, and the skills and resources they already have in their wheelhouse to build the success they are looking for.

Misconceptions of Coaching

  • Coaches provide advice. It’s not the coach's role to impart wisdom but rather to facilitate you as the seeker through the process of connecting to your inner wisdom and making choices about your actions and next steps from a place that is meaningful to you.

  • Working with a coach isn’t focused on healing past trauma or a substitute for mental health support. A great life coach will know the boundaries of coaching and will refer you to a therapist or counselor when clinical work is needed.

To be happy is a different proposition for everyone. But one thing is for sure, if you are clear on your purpose, eliminate negativity from your life, and have the tools and techniques to build meaningful relationships, happiness and fulfillment are achievable.
